Prior to my first trip to Costa Rica, I emailed about 8 or 9 different charter boats as I have had some bad (and scary) offshore experiences in my life – This happened when I didn’t realize how important this research was. I decided to go with Capt. Skeet because he was the one of the most responsive and professional Capt.’s I have ever dealt with via email. You could probably guess that this is always a good indicator of how he handles his boat once you are fishing. The way Skeet and his crew catered to my wife and I was phenomenal. My wife had never caught a fish offshore and my experience is mediocre at best. By the end of the second day, my wife had landed 4 sailfish on her own and I was hooking and wiring in fish by myself. In addition, I was constantly in the crew’s way trying to make a GoPro video. There wasn’t a single moment when I was asked to move, shift, get out of the way etc.. And I know I had to be driving them crazy. The list could go on and on about all of the great things Skeet did but from someone who has fished on several boats in a few different countries, this was by far and away the best trip I have ever been on. Skeet may be a little more expensive than some of the other boats but things to consider… Anytime you are offshore, there are inherent risks involved. Don’t worry about spending a few extra bucks when it comes to the safety of you and your friends. The food and drinks were plentiful and fresh. The saloon has air conditioning. The mates were some of the best I have ever fished with. Skeet sends you an email after the trip with high quality photo’s that are priceless! And last but not least, Skeet knows how to find the fish! Don’t waste the time performing the research – just go with Skeet. I promise you will not be disappointed!
